O-Post 4 Rope System & MGT

The MASH O-Post TL-3 system and MASH Gating Terminal (MGT) utilize a round post and a simplified terminal design. This wire rope safety fence has 4 woven ropes placed in dimples on the posts with plastic retainer clips. The weave creates a high coefficient of friction from the rope contact with the posts resulting in predictable deflections and ease of maintenance regardless of length between terminals.

WHY Brifen MASH TL-3?

  • The ONLY system with patented interwoven cables

  • Best ratio of posts to deflection based on MASH 3-11 tests at widest and narrowest post spacings, resulting in fewer posts per linear foot to achieve the specified deflection as compared to other non-woven designs

  • Uses the SAME tension range as Brifen's NCHRP 350 systems - other MASH designs have almost 2X the tension to pass MASH tests resulting in much larger foundations and more difficult repairs

O-Post Wire Rope Safety Fence (WRSF)

MASH TL-3

The O-Post is a high-tension median or roadside cable barrier system successfully tested to MASH 2016 with FHWA Eligibility Letter HSST/B-245A. The Length of Need (LON) consists of Galvanized Steel O-Posts, also called Line Posts, which are placed in socketed concrete foundations or driven steel sockets.

The ropes are interwoven around the line posts, but not attached. Plastic retainer clips hold the ropes in indents or dimples, two on each side of the post, which help manage rope friction and maintain proper rope heights. Line posts also have an excluder and post cap. An optional reflector blade (3" or 6") will snap into the post cap at intervals per agency requirements.

MASH Gating Terminal (MGT)

MASH TL-3

Brifen’s MASH Gating Terminal (MGT) has been successfully tested to MASH 2016 with FHWA Eligibility Letter HSST1/CC137. It can be located anywhere within the clear zone and has all ropes anchored into one foundation. The inline level design is 37LF and includes three terminal posts.

Site specific soil analysis by a Professional Engineer is imperative for proper foundation sizing to prevent anchor movement and provide adequate factor of safety when rope tension increases at lower temperatures.
